John E. Chaffin has practiced law for 30 years in Texas and California. Over the last 17 years Mr. Chaffin was involved in importing from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil and China as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the largest tropical hardwood plywood importer in the U. S. In this position, he was responsible for all corporate compliance, dealings with U. S. Customs, all labor and employment issues, contract drafting and negotiations, state and federal regulations, establishing and maintaining overseas offices and employees, foreign trade finance agreements, and casualty loss recoveries. Mr. Chaffin is an active member of several international trade and legal associations and maintains a worldwide network of international contacts.

Joseph A. Lestyk is of Counsel to the firm. He retired in 2003 from his positions as Vice President and General Counsel of Ahlstrom USA Inc. and as Senior International Counsel of its parent company, Ahlstrom Corporation of Helsinki, Finland, which is a global leader in production of high performance, fiber-based materials. Following retirement, he continued to serve part-time as Senior Legal Consultant to Ahlstrom, primarily responsible for formulating a global corporate compliance program and for training management staff in antitrust and competition law and other aspects of compliance. He also continues to serve clients in Europe and Asia and is a Director of Camelot Trust Pte Ltd in Singapore. Camelot manages and administers trust arrangements and companies (onshore and offshore structures) on behalf of high net worth individuals, family enterprises and listed companies.
